India sets record with all-female flight around the world
India's national airline announced on March 6 that it had set a new world record with the first round-the-world flight with an all-female crew.
Air India said last week its Boeing 777 departed from Delhi, India, to San Francisco, USA, and returned with an all-women crew. This was the first such flight around the world.

India's national airline, which has previously been criticised for grounding dozens of female crew members due to their weight issues, has now applied for a Guinness World Record for a round-the-world flight with an all-women crew.
“All those on board this flight, from the pilot to the crew, were women,” said a spokesperson for India’s national airline.

India's national carrier has announced it will launch more women-only flights this week to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8.

Last year, India's national carrier also flew a 17-hour non-stop flight to set a record for the longest flight with an all-women crew.
Air India has taken several initiatives to improve gender equality in the South Asian country’s aviation industry in recent years. In January 2017, the airline introduced women-only seats on domestic flights after complaints of sexual harassment from passengers./.
