India protests China's new map.
Indian media outlets on June 28 strongly protested China's recent release of a new map that depicts Arunachal Pradesh – a northeastern Indian state – as part of Tibet.
The newspaper "India Today" quoted a statement from the Indian Ministry of External Affairs affirming that "Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of India. This issue has been repeatedly conveyed by India to the Chinese government."

The Arunachal Pradesh state government strongly condemned China's actions and urged the Indian government to find a solution. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki stated: “We oppose and condemn China’s claim of sovereignty over Arunachal Pradesh. We want the Government to negotiate with China to find a solution to this issue.”
Controversy surrounding China's new map emerged while Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari was in Beijing attending events commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Panchsheel Treaty, which outlines five principles of peaceful coexistence between India and China.
