India discovers a giant blue star.

An Indian astronomer has just discovered a giant blue star located approximately 55 million light-years from Earth.

According to the Times of India on April 13, astronomer Ananda Hota of the University of Mumbai (India) discovered the aforementioned giant star in the constellation Virgo.

This star is temporarily being called J1229+1122 and may be given a name later.

Astronomer Ananda Hota said he had been tracking this star since 2009, but its existence was only recently confirmed through research.
