The conflict that occurred in June this year, which left 20 Indian soldiers dead on the Sino-Indian border, worsened relations between the two countries. The Indian government blocked supplies from China, forcing some businesses to shut down. The Foxconn factory, which makes iPhones for Apple, had to stop assembly, resulting in missed contract deadlines and a week off for the company's employees.
At this time, India announced that goods from China will no longer be banned from import, which will allow Foxconn to continue manufacturing iPhones at its factories in India.
India is the country that assembles the iPhone SE and iPhone XR. Manufacturing in India allows Apple to reduce the cost of smartphones because of low import duties.
Earlier, India blocked TikTok, WeChat, Weibo and 56 other Chinese apps on its territory. According to Indian authorities, these apps could harm India's sovereignty, national security and public order. Experts say the reason for the ban is the deterioration of relations between China and India.
