Heartbreaking mystery

(Baonghean) - The sidewalk tea stall was still crowded today, but not as noisy as usual. Everyone was silent in the face of a heartbreaking incident that occurred in Nghi Yen commune (Nghi Loc district). Just because three banana trees were cut down, a woman violently swung a shovel, striking her neighbor on the head and nearly taking their life. Even the usually talkative owner of the stall couldn't say anything more than repeatedly ask: Neighbors should help each other in times of need, so why treat each other so heartlessly? What were three banana trees worth anyway?

(Baonghean) - The sidewalk tea stall was still crowded today, but not as noisy as usual. Everyone was silent in the face of a heartbreaking incident that occurred in Nghi Yen commune (Nghi Loc district). Just because three banana trees were cut down, a woman violently swung a shovel, striking her neighbor on the head and nearly taking their life. Even the usually talkative owner of the stall couldn't say anything more than repeatedly ask: Neighbors should help each other in times of need, so why treat each other so heartlessly? What were three banana trees worth anyway?

Three banana trees might not seem like much, but what happened around them is worth discussing. The act of swinging the shovel and hitting someone on the head might not have been out of regret for the lost trees, but rather an act of releasing pent-up resentment and anger between the two families. It could also have been a momentary outburst of anger. But regardless of the perspective, it was a very cruel act, utterly devoid of humanity. And a heartbreaking question arises: why do people treat each other so badly these days?

Since the beginning of the month, countless seemingly impossible and unthinkable events have occurred. For example, a younger brother killing his older brother over a land dispute in Cam Xuyen (Ha Tinh province), a couple living together as husband and wife murdering each other and dismembering their bodies in Ho Chi Minh City, a son striking his father on the head with a hoe, a wife killing her husband in Vinh Phuc and Hai Duong provinces... all of these horrific incidents have left everyone horrified. The horror has led to a nagging question: why are these immoral acts, beyond imagination, becoming more frequent, transcending all boundaries and barriers that are difficult to break down, such as the bonds of father-son, brotherhood, marriage, and neighborly relations?

It seems that nowadays, no emotion, no matter how sacred or noble, can deter people from committing crimes. Any conflict or disagreement leads to physical violence, regardless of who is in front of them, regardless of right or wrong. What has caused people to suddenly become so ferocious, violent, and uncontrollable, to the point of losing their humanity? Is it because life is too difficult, too stifling, and without a way out? Is it because of a severe decline in social morality?... The police will eventually investigate the causes of these incidents, but those are only the direct, immediate causes. As for the deeper reasons behind such widespread violence, it's impossible to conclude anything yet. Therefore, it remains an enigma.

But it's a heartbreaking mystery!
