Dai Yongmei, head of the nutrition department at the Nanjing Institute for Maternal and Child Care (China), warned postpartum mothers against immediately consuming dishes made from chicken meat, as it is a significant cause of low milk production and even complete loss of milk, negatively impacting the baby's health.

According to Doctor Dai Vinh Mai, many people still have the habit of buying hens to nourish the health of postpartum women right after giving birth, but this is actually a misconception.

After childbirth, the amount of female sex hormones (scientifically known as estrogen) in the blood of new mothers decreases significantly. This plays a major role in stimulating the mother's body to produce milk to nourish the baby. Therefore, when consuming foods made from chicken meat, which is very rich in estrogen, the mother's milk supply will decrease or even stop completely.

The China News Network also quoted the aforementioned doctor as saying that postpartum women should consume food made from rooster meat, especially from large and healthy roosters.

Besides containing many male hormones that stimulate the mother's body to produce milk, rooster meat also has a low fat content, which is very good for the still-developing digestive system of babies.
