Prison sentences for two drug traffickers.
(Baonghean.vn) -On May 6th, the Nghe An Provincial Court sentenced Le Hung Son (born in 1972), residing in Hai Phong, to 19 years in prison, and Phan Hung Nguyen (born in 1993), residing in Huong Khe town, Ha Tinh province, to 16 years in prison for illegally possessing and trading narcotics.
The trial revealed that on the morning of September 16, 2012, Le Hung Son, along with Phan Thanh Tung, traveled from Hai Phong to Nghe An, renting a room at the Tokyo III Hotel (Vinh City) with the intention of finding a location and market for drug trafficking. After settling down, Tung called Phan Hung Nguyen, his disciple in Hai Phong, to come to the rented room and give him 25 million VND to buy methamphetamine and bring it to Nghe An. Following his boss's instructions, Nguyen took the money and bought 1000 methamphetamine pills, disguised them in a bag containing lemon tea, and immediately took a bus to Nghe An.
After obtaining the drugs, Tung discussed with Son and Nguyen the plan to stay and sell them while he returned to Hai Phong. On the afternoon of September 17, 2012, while Son and his group of friends were using drugs in a hotel room, the police raided the place and arrested them along with 1000 methamphetamine pills as evidence.

The forensic examination results from the Criminal Technical Department of the Nghe An Provincial Police determined that the pure white substance seized from rooms 801 and 703 of the Tokyo III Hotel was synthetic drugs weighing over 289 grams. Both Son and Nguyen were charged with illegal possession and trafficking of narcotics. Tung is wanted nationwide.
At the trial on May 6, 2013, both defendants clearly confessed to their crimes and requested leniency. The panel of judges determined that both Son and Nguyen had committed dangerous crimes involving large quantities of stolen goods, requiring their isolation from society for a period of time as a deterrent to others. The court sentenced Le Hung Son to 19 years in prison and Phan Hung Nguyen to 16 years in prison.
