How to eat to prevent sinusitis recurrence
Sinusitis is a chronic disease or so-called allergic infection. Therefore, the disease requires long-term treatment.
In addition to treatment as prescribed by the doctor, the patient needs to create a good living environment to avoid prolonged cold and humidity and have a diet to prevent allergic foods that cause secretions and increase the body's resistance to bring about effective treatment.
First of all, people with sinusitis should drink enough boiled water every day (about two liters/day or more is better), divided into many times (don't avoid drinking water because you're afraid of having to urinate a lot). Drinking enough water helps thin mucus, peel off the thick nasal layer and create clear channels, thereby making it easier for the body to cough up phlegm and expel dirt.

For a balanced diet, you need to eat a lot of green vegetables every day such as: Malabar spinach, Malabar spinach, sweet cabbage, cauliflower... Yellow fruits such as: papaya, pumpkin, carrots... to supplement vitamin A in the form of provitamin A to help the body protect the mucosa. Can eat 1-3 times/week.
Eating spices such as onions, ginger, garlic... containing plant antibiotics and fish containing a lot of omega-3 fats has the effect of preventing inflammatory reactions in the respiratory tract. In addition, increase the intake of fruits containing a lot of vitamin C such as grapefruit, oranges, tangerines, lemons... to increase the body's resistance. In the cold season, drinking warm water, drinking herbal teas (chrysanthemum tea, jasmine tea,...) also has a good effect in reducing symptoms: headache, clearing the nose, easy breathing.
To avoid recurrence and prolonged illness, people with sinusitis should avoid cold and humidity, so when going out, especially early in the morning when the weather is cold, they should wear a mask and rub their nose warmly before going out in the cold. In the evening before going to bed, you can soak your feet in warm water for 15-20 minutes.
Do not drink cold water or ice water, because the temperature difference will cause irritation to the mucous membranes of the throat and respiratory tract. Do not drink sugary drinks because they can thicken nasal mucus.
Do not eat foods that your body is allergic to such as: beef, crab, shrimp, clams, oysters... Limit the use of milk and dairy products. Do not drink coffee, beer, or alcohol because they can thicken mucus. Moreover, alcohol is considered a diuretic, stimulating the excretion of water, causing the body to lack water, negatively affecting the removal of mucus stagnant in the sinuses.
Do not use antibiotics indiscriminately (without a doctor's prescription) because it can easily cause drug resistance. In addition, patients also need to have a suitable exercise regimen, create a good, clean living environment to help prevent the disease from recurring and prolonging.
