Angela Merkel is 'Europe's most dangerous woman'

(Baonghean.vn) - Chairman of Austria's Freedom Party Heinz-Christian Strach on October 25 criticized German Chancellor Angela Merkel as "the most dangerous woman in Europe" for allowing unlimited immigration. Mr. Strach said this could put Europe on the brink of civil war.

Speaking to supporters, Mr. Strach argued: “Uncontrolled foreign immigration into our welfare system could lead to civil war in the near future.”

In a rallying cry ahead of the general election, Mr Strach also added that his party's presidential candidate, Norbert Hofer, “will always be with the Austrian people”.

Mr Hofer is now trying to maintain a neutral tone as he attempts to spread anti-immigration views to the wider Austrian population.

The 45-year-old MP’s promotional posters, which read “God save me”, have been criticised by Muslim and Christian lawmakers for using God for personal gain.

The liberal party said Hofer’s words came “from the heart” and were “connected to the Christian and Western values” it holds. In Austria, two-thirds of people are Catholic, while only 4% are Protestant.

In May 2016, the Right-wing party narrowly lost the presidential election, trailing its Green Party rival Alexander Van der Bellen by 31,000 votes. But irregularities in the postal ballot count were later discovered.

Re-elections in Austria are scheduled to take place next December.
