A tea seller in Pakistan suddenly changed his life to become a model after a photo of him went viral on social media.

Arshad Khan, 18 years old, was captured by female photographer Javeria Ali while pouring tea to sell at the Sunday Bazaar fair in the capital Islamabad.

After the photo was posted on Twitter on October 14, thousands of people "fell in love" with his handsome appearance, especially his blue eyes, and the keyword #ChaiWala (tea seller) began to spread rapidly.

A few days later, Khan was signed by an online shopping site in Islamabad to become a fashion model.

“Chai wala is no longer a chai wala, he is now a fashion wala!”, the site announced on its website and Facebook.

In an interview with a local TV station, Khan said his family had lived here for 25 years and he had only started selling tea a few months ago. He had no knowledge of social media like Instagram or Twitter.

Asked if he knew he was world famous, Khan replied: "Yes, I know I'm famous and I'm very happy. My friends showed me the pictures this morning."

One Indian even mentioned the handsome tea seller and called for peace between the two countries. "Pakistan has #ChaiWala like this. Please don't bomb them, thanks."

Photographer Ali, a recent graduate who specializes in wedding and event photography in Islamabad, said she was surprised when the photo went viral.

"I'm so happy for him, he deserves it. He's a really nice person. I just hope he can handle this fame and not be taken advantage of by greedy people," she said.
