Butt, 27, is a British citizen but was born in Pakistan, CNN reported, citing a statement from London police. He is known to police, MI5, as well as British counterintelligence and security agencies. However, there is no information to suggest that last weekend's attack was planned.
Butt worked for a company that monitors London’s public transport system. He interned as a customer service assistant for the London Underground for nearly six months but left in October last year.
Redouane, 30, who also used the name Rachid Elkhdar, is of Moroccan and Libyan descent and lived in Dagenham, east London, not far from Butt's home in Barking.
The third attacker has been identified but police have not released his identity.
Three attackers rented a van on the night of June 3 and drove it into pedestrians on London Bridge in the UK. They then headed to nearby Borough Market, got out of the van and stabbed many people. The incident killed 7 people and injured 48. British police opened fire and killed the three attackers just 8 minutes after receiving the first call.
This is the third attack in the UK in less than three months and happened just days before the UK held elections. The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack but did not provide specific evidence./.
