Impact of flood upstream of Ca River, Nghe An province causes hundreds of billions of dong in damage
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control, the flood in the upper reaches of the Ca River in recent days has caused severe damage to many districts in Nghe An province; initial estimates are up to hundreds of billions of VND.

According to a quick report from the People's Committees of Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Con Cuong and Anh Son districts, as of 4 p.m. on September 1, the whole province had 19 houses collapsed and swept away (Tuong Duong 15; Ky Son 4); 9 houses had landslides; 454 houses were flooded; 101 households had to be evacuated due to flooding and landslides.
There are 7 schools affected (Anh Son 1; Con Cuong 2; Tuong Duong 3 and Ky Son 1).
The flooded rice area was 26 hectares and hundreds of hectares of fruit trees, 263 poultry died, 29 fish cages and 3,480 kg of fish were swept away...

Floods caused the abutments and approach roads of two suspension bridges, Chom Lom Bridge in Con Cuong and Cua Rao 2 Suspension Bridge in Tuong Duong, to collapse; 300 meters of road railings were washed away; 210 meters of riverbank were eroded, with the area of eroded riverbank land being 20.5 hectares.

In recent days, Nghe An province has directed and coordinated with relevant localities and units to urgently overcome the consequences of the flood; organized visits and support for people in flooded areas, not letting people go hungry or without a place to live. At the same time, mobilized local forces and means to help people overcome the consequences, repair houses anddisease prevention
Organize the restoration of agricultural production; Arrange forces to control and guide traffic in landslide, underground, overflow, and deeply flooded areas... to ensure safety; Repair damaged infrastructure works to soon restore production and stabilize people's lives; Focus on mobilizing forces to repair and clean schools; Support books and teaching materials so that schools can promptly start the new school year as planned.

At the inspection of the situation and direction of measures to overcome the consequences of floods in the two districts of Tuong Duong and Con Cuong, on September 1, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Dac Vinh requested: In the coming time, localities need to continue to take remedial measures, clean up and sanitize the environment as the water recedes; organize disinfection, sterilization, and disease prevention, to prevent outbreaks and spread; guide people to take care of crops, arrange suitable varieties to replant lost areas; do not let people collect firewood or fish on the river during floods, carelessly causing unfortunate accidents; At the same time, request local authorities and departments, branches and sectors to urgently assess and count the damage to proactively support and overcome the consequences of floods./.
