American pilot falls in love with Vietnamese nurse

To Quyen (25 years old) has just graduated from medical college in Florida. Her husband Alex (24 years old) has just become a captain of a domestic airline in the US. Quyen feels lucky to have married a smart, hard-working husband. On the contrary, Alex is always proud to have a Vietnamese girl who is good at studying and good at housework as his wife.

In 2015, To Quyen graduated with a degree in biotechnology in Vietnam, then applied to study abroad in the US on her own. That Christmas, the girl from Da Nang went to Florida, changing her direction to the "difficult" medical field, because it was easier to find a job in this profession.At first, she had a hard time understanding the lectures. Although she was confident in her foreign language skills, when she came here, she could only understand 60% of the lectures. Every night, Quyen buried her head in rereading the textbook until midnight.

"The cost of each semester is $5,000 - $6,000, so I try not to fail any subjects. Everyone chooses 4 classes each semester, I take 6 classes. In the summer, my friends go out, I stay to study more. I put all my effort into studying to graduate quickly, because time is gold," Quyen confided.

At that time, Alex McCaffrey worked for a cargo airline in Florida.. He likes Asian girls but has no chance to meet any. In March 2017, Alex happened to see Quyen's Facebook photo "looking approachable" so he took the initiative to message her to get to know her. After the greeting, he texted: "Do you know how to cook Pho?".

That statement and the kind, intellectual appearance of the tall, bespectacled guy caught Quyen's attention. In the following days, they talked more. The girl in the strange land attracted him strongly. After a week, he arranged to meet her at Eustis airport, where he was working.

That day, he took her out to eat, to the movies, and then drove her around to see the ocean. "It was the first time I sat in a small two-seater plane. The new feeling made me very excited. When I got home, I still happily thought about the cockpit," Quyen said.

With Alex, right from the first meeting, he "fell in love" with the girl with dark skin and a typical Asian face. When going out to eat, she insisted on splitting the bill. "At the end of the date, I wanted to kiss her goodbye but she wouldn't let me, saying: 'We're just friends, we don't have any relationship yet so we can't kiss'," Alex laughed.

Knowing that he could not win her over in the usual way, Alex paid her as a friend. The second time they met, they still split the bill.The third time, Quyen took him home to meet his relatives, making him feel like he had succeeded one step. The fourth time, aHe took her to meet his mother.After that date, he confessed his love and she accepted.

When in love, Alex helped Quyen a lot with her studies.Even though he didn't study medicine, he still understood what his girlfriend was studying."There was a class on cardiovascular anatomy. I watched videos over and over again but couldn't remember how blood circulates through the vessels. He watched it and then used blue and red ink to draw on his body to illustrate it for me. Thanks to his vivid way of teaching, I will always remember it," Quyen said. He also often gave her advice when writing essays or explained difficult words.

Alex thengrateful to Quyen for her positive impact. Being a pilot requires a standard weight, with his height, it cannot exceed 95 kg. But when they first met, he weighed over 140 kg, and had tried many times to lose weight but failed. Only when he ate the dishes his girlfriend cooked, Alex lost weight naturally without having to diet. From then on, he switched to Vietnamese food, rarely eating American food anymore.

"She often cooks extra rice every time I come over and gives me some to take to work the next day," Alex said.Not only that, Quyen also accompanies her boyfriend when going to the gym. About half a year after dating, he lost 85 kg.

Alex focuses on studying, working, and living frugally, so Quyen's spending habits sometimes make him feel pressured.Every time she goes to the market she usually spends quite a lot, from 150 to 200 dollars.

"We had a disagreement. I explained that the amount of money I spent seemed like a lot, but it was enough for 7-10 days, so it was actually cheap. When he understood that, he didn't care anymore. Since then, I've learned to be more careful with my spending, because before that, I used to spend freely and order without thinking about the price," Quyen said.

After sitting down together to resolve disagreements like that, Alex appreciates Quyen even more.With her, he felt an independent person with a purpose in life. Not long after knowing each other, they found common ground in many things.

"With other girls, when they disagree, they get angry, argue, and demand to win or lose. But with Quyen, even when she's angry, she still respects the other person and sits down to talk things out clearly," Alex said.

Having determined that this was the other half of his life, Alex decided to propose after only 7 months of dating. One night in October 2017, hThey repeated the flight like the first day they went to see the sea. When the plane was about to land, Quyen suddenly saw the words "Marry me" glowing from 140 lanterns, which he secretly asked his colleague to arrange for him.

"Getting off the plane, he knelt down to propose with the ring his mother gave him. Because he was so nervous, he knelt down on both knees and asked three times: 'Will you marry me?'. I agreed three times," Quyen happily said.

They registered their marriage 2 weeks later. After getting married, Quyen discovered that her husband had many talents. He not only took care of housework but also loved to make his wife beautiful. Alex used it skillfully.curling iron, flat iron and know many types of hair braiding, nail polish.

In early May, Quyen graduated. That morning, Alex still went to work but he secretly ordered new shoes and a dress for his wife. At noon, he started curling her hair and dressing her up beautifully. The moment he found out his wife had achieved excellent results, Alex was extremely proud. He knew that medicine was very difficult and not even his mother tongue, but his wife still did very well."My baby is getting another degree. I'm so proud of you!", he gave flowers to his wife and kept talking.

In the near future, the couple will set goals for their careers. Quyen will continue to study for a master's degree, while Alex will start flying passenger planes and aims to become a captain of a major airline in the future.
