Few would have imagined that a modern, self-contained livestock farm like the one owned by Mr. Ho Tat Quy's family could be built on the barren fields of Hamlet 4, Quynh Doi Commune, Quynh Luu District. Previously, Mr. Quy mainly worked in the South, while his wife stayed home farming and raising pigs. Wanting to exploit the local resources and recognizing the proximity of the Con Mu Lung area to water sources, he discussed the matter with his wife and children and boldly consolidated all their agricultural land into one location to build a comprehensive livestock farm. The total cost of building this economic model has exceeded 3 billion VND. Of this, he borrowed 1 billion VND from the Social Policy Bank and the commune's Farmers' Support Fund. Currently, his farm employs over a dozen workers with salaries ranging from 2.5 to 3 million VND per person per month.

With 7 sao (approximately 0.7 hectares) of agricultural land, Mr. Ho Tat Quy has arranged it scientifically and rationally to accommodate both livestock farming and rice cultivation, as well as fruit tree planting. Each year, his farm raises 2-3 batches of pigs, each batch consisting of 40-50 lean pigs. In addition, he grows corn and fodder grass for raising beef and breeding cattle. Utilizing by-products from pig and cattle farming, he also digs ponds for freshwater fish farming, selling 2-3 tons of various fish annually. Along the pond banks, he plants fruit trees such as bananas, papayas, and herbs. His bold and innovative approach has yielded positive results, bringing his family several hundred million dong in profit each year. Currently, the market for his lean pork is very stable, and he plans to sell 5-6 tons of pork to the market during the upcoming Lunar New Year (Year of the Goat). Sharing his experiences in raising lean pork, Mr. Ho Tat Quy said: “Raising pigs isn't difficult, but making a fortune from it is something not everyone can do. Recognizing this, my family always focuses on ensuring a clean environment, and secondly, on following the correct vaccination procedures for various diseases. As for feed, we use commercial feed to easily check for pathogens.”

Not only is Mr. Ho Tat Quy's family dynamic and creative in economic development, but they are also very enthusiastic and actively participate in local movements, contributing to the growth of the Farmers' Association and the Association for the Promotion of Learning. For many consecutive years, his family has been recognized as an outstanding household in production and business at the district and provincial levels. Especially in the new rural development movement, his family has actively contributed financially, helping to improve the appearance of their hometown. Mr. Ho Quang Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Doi commune, Quynh Luu district, commented: “Mr. Quy's lean pig farm is a model for other households to visit and learn from. Not only has he established a diverse farm for livestock, aquaculture, and ornamental plants that generate significant economic income, but his family is also exemplary in village activities such as supporting road construction. The family lives in unity and maintains very sincere relationships with their neighbors.”
