(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of June 2, 2015, Mr. Nguyen Huu Sang, Vice Chairman of the Anh Son District People's Committee, inspected the drought situation and remedial measures in several localities. He was accompanied by representatives from the Department of Agriculture.

The delegation conducted on-site inspections in several communes such as Hoa Son, Hoi Son, Vinh Son, Tuong Son, Lang Son, and Cao Son. According to the plan for this year's summer-autumn crop production, Anh Son district will plant crops on an area of ​​2,800 hectares. However, due to prolonged drought and severe water shortages, the fields have cracked. According to statistics from the Anh Son district agricultural department, approximately 800 hectares of fields without reliable water sources cannot be planted. For fields with reliable water sources, local authorities have instructed farmers to accelerate production, focusing on water availability and water conservation. Regarding the third crop of corn, about 600 hectares have low yields, and approximately 100 hectares are at risk of total crop failure. For industrial crops, especially tea, 138 hectares are at risk of dying and 1,500 hectares of tea plants have suffered leaf burn. However, due to the prolonged drought, water levels in rivers, streams, lakes, and dams have dropped to only 30% of their storage capacity, making the drought very serious.

During the inspection, Mr. Nguyen Huu Sang, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, directed localities experiencing drought to take timely remedial measures, utilize water resources in reservoirs and dams to accelerate production, and the irrigation enterprise to plan water regulation to ensure that people can produce according to schedule.
