Mr. Son: Launching the "For Children 2015" Action Month

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of May 28th, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Anh Son district, in coordination with the People's Committee of Tao Son commune, organized the launching ceremony of the "Month of Action for Children 2015" with the theme "Listening to Children Speak".

Anh Son is a low-lying mountainous district still facing many difficulties, but in recent years, the Party Committee and people of Anh Son have effectively implemented many policies and guidelines of the Party and State, including the implementation of the law on protecting, caring for, and educating children. As a result, Anh Son has seen many positive changes in recent years. 95% of children with special circumstances receive care, and 100% of disabled children and orphaned children without guardians receive attention and assistance. Social evils and child abuse are gradually being prevented. Anh Son also consistently ranks among the top in the province in terms of educational and training achievements. The enrollment rate for kindergarten children reaches 97%, the rate of children entering grade 1 at the age of 6 annually reaches over 99.5%, and the enrollment rate from grade 5 to grade 6 reaches 99%…

However, many children still live in poor families, so their rights to education and recreation are limited. The entire district still has nearly 2,000 children with special circumstances and difficulties, 2,21 children with disabilities, over 500 children, and 54 orphans. Children in remote areas do not have access to many recreational activities…

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Xuan Quang, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, requested that departments, agencies, and localities strengthen propaganda and mobilization efforts to raise community awareness; promote emulation movements at the commune and ward levels suitable for children; effectively implement the National Action Program for Children giai đoạn 2012 - 2020 and the National Program for Child Protection giai đoạn 2015-2020; strengthen the organization of activities for the care, education, and protection of children; promote and improve recreational activities for children; review and evaluate the implementation of current legal documents on the care and protection of children; and call on businesses, organizations, and benevolent individuals inside and outside the district to join hands and contribute with the government at all levels for the well-being of poor children and children from ethnic minorities.
