Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Hoa Binh submitted to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly a proposal to change the trial uniforms of judges.

Accordingly, instead of wearing the industry uniform as before, judges will wear long-sleeved black robes when conducting trials. Judges of the Family and Juvenile Court will wear long-sleeved orange robes.

Meanwhile, formal wear is a gown and daily work wear includes spring and summer clothes which are trousers, white shirts and autumn and winter clothes which are suits.

The National Assembly's Judiciary Committee has the majority of opinions in agreement because the uniform shows solemnity, dignity as well as international integration factors.

But there are also opinions that this costume is not suitable for the physique of Vietnamese people, climate conditions, cultural identity, usage features, closeness to the public..., and needs to be carefully considered.

The Supreme People's Court also proposed adding judges to courts at all levels.

Accordingly, for the 3 newly established High People's Courts under the 2014 Law on Organization of People's Courts, along with the existing 103 people, there will be 67 more people, bringing the total number of senior judges to 170 people.

The Supreme People's Court also proposed adding 65 senior judges to 63 provincial people's courts, of which Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have 2; bringing the total number of senior judges at the Supreme People's Court and provincial people's courts to 235.

The examining agency, the National Assembly's Judicial Committee, approved the above proposal of the Supreme People's Court.
