Tropical depression about 240km from Truong Sa island
(Baonghean.vn) - According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, early this morning (November 17), the low pressure area over the Truong Sa archipelago has strengthened into a tropical depression. Due to the influence of the tropical depression, from tonight (November 17) to November 19, in the coastal provinces of South Central, Southern Central Highlands and the South, there will be heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms in some places.

At 04:00, the center of the tropical depression was at about 10.0 degrees North latitude; 113.5 degrees East longitude, about 240km East Northeast of Truong Sa Island. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6 (40-50km/h), gusting to level 8. The radius of strong wind level 6, gusting to level 8 was about 50km from the center of the tropical depression.
It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will move in the West Northwest direction, traveling 10-15km per hour. At 04:00 on November 18, the center of the tropical depression will be at about 10.4 degrees North latitude; 111.8 degrees East longitude, about 140km north of Truong Sa island.
The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 6-7 (40-60km/h), gusting to level 9. The radius of strong wind level 6, gusting to level 8 is about 70km from the center of the tropical depression.
Due to the influence of the tropical depression, in the Central and Southern East Sea (including the waters of Truong Sa archipelago), there will be thunderstorms, strong winds of level 6, later increasing to level 7, gusting to level 9; rough seas.
In the next 24 to 48 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move westward, traveling 10-15km per hour. At 4:00 a.m. on November 19, the center of the tropical depression will be at about 10.6 degrees North latitude; 109.2 degrees East longitude, right on the sea of provinces from Ninh Thuan to Ba Ria-Vung Tau. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 6-7 (40-60km/h), gusting to level 9. Natural disaster risk level: Level 3.
Due to the influence of a tropical depression, from tonight (November 17) to November 19, in the coastal provinces of South Central, Southern Central Highlands and Southern regions, there will be moderate rain, some places will have heavy to very heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms.
