Tropical depression is moving towards Hoang Sa archipelago

At 1:00 a.m. this morning (April 18), the center of the tropical depression was at about 14.8 degrees North latitude; 116.0 degrees East longitude, about 460km North-South of the Paracel Islands. The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression was level 6 (40-50 km/h), gusting to level 7-8.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression is forecast to move in a northwest direction, then change direction to move in a northeast direction, traveling about 15 km per hour and gradually weakening into a low pressure area.

At 1:00 a.m. on April 19, the center of the low pressure area was at about 17.8 degrees North latitude; 116.5 degrees East longitude, about 490 km East Northeast of Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind in the center of the low pressure area decreased to below level 6 (below 40 km/h).

In the next 24 hours, the dangerous area (strong wind level 6 or higher, gust level 7-8, rough sea) is from latitude 13.5 to 18.00N, east of longitude 114.00E. Natural disaster risk level 3.
