Arsenal 2-0 Newcastle: Arsenal's 10th consecutive home win
Goals from Aaron Ramsey and Alexander Lacazette in each half helped Arsenal beat Newcastle to break into the Top 3 for the first time this season.
Entering the latest match of round 32 of the Premier League, Arsenal had 3 personnel changes compared to the victory over MU in round 31 which took place before entering the international break at the end of March. Alex Iwobi, Matteo Guendouzi and Shkodran Mustafi entered the field from the start. Aubameyang, Granit Xhaka and captain Laurent Koscielny were the names replaced.
Besides the personnel changes, one thing that is easy to see is that coach Unai Emery chose a 3-4-3 formation with the determination to put pressure on the opponent right from the start to find victory. This decision helped the Gunners maintain pressure right after referee Anthony Taylor blew the opening whistle.

Ramsey's goal was denied in the 13th minute. |
In the 13th minute, Mesut Oezil took a corner kick for Sead Kolasinac to head the ball behind for Aaron Ramsey to comfortably finish past goalkeeper Dubravka at close range. However, the referee did not recognize the goal, as he thought that center-back Sokratis had previously fouled a player of the away team.
Having been denied a goal, Arsenal remained loyal to their short-range passing style of play, but situations that put pressure on Newcastle's goal did not happen often, when facing the multi-layered defensive wall in the visitors' 4-5-1 tactical formation.
It wasn't until the 30th minute, from a straight attack in the middle, that the ball was passed to Lacazette's position but his first step was quite bad. Luckily, the ball accidentally touched a Newcastle player's foot and went to Ramsey's position so that the Welsh player could finish with his left foot to open the score.

Ramsey's goal was not recognized until the 30th minute. |
The score seemed to have been raised in the final seconds of the first half, when Lacazette turned and finished with a classy finish from Ramsey's cross. Goalkeeper Dubravka was helpless to see the ball, but fortunately for Newcastle, Matt Ritchie was able to clear the danger right on the goal line.
Entering the second half, Arsenal was still the team that completely controlled the game on the field. However, the Gunners' attacks were no longer maintained regularly. Meanwhile, Newcastle also did not create any really good opportunities towards goalkeeper Bernd Leno's goal for most of the match.

Lacazette's lob sealed the win in the 82nd minute |
It seemed like the match would end with a minimal victory for Arsenal, but a surprise came in the final minutes. The striker who came on as a substitute in the second half, Aubameyang, had a good coordination with Lacazette, creating an opportunity for the French striker to chip the ball over goalkeeper Dubravka in a one-on-one situation, to seal a 2-0 victory for the Emirates team.
With this victory, Arsenal has surpassed Tottenham to enter the Top 3 for the first time this season. This achievement means that the Gunners have a great chance to win a ticket to the Champions League next season.
Number: 10
The win over Newcastle was Arsenal's 10th consecutive home win in the Premier League, the first time the Gunners have achieved this since May 1998.
