Chelsea were the team that created more dangerous chances in the first leg. The home advantage at Stamford Bridge helped the players in blue push up the formation from the first minutes. Alvaro Morata and Victor Moses were the players who threatened goalkeeper David Ospina's goal the most for the home team.
Meanwhile, Arsenal took the initiative to counter-attack but did not have many opportunities for strikers Alexander Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez, who came off the bench. The absence of playmaker Ozil and Jack Wilshere, who had to leave the field due to injury in the second half, made Arsenal's attack disjointed in every phase of the ball.
This is the second time Arsenal have drawn 0-0 with Chelsea in four meetings this season. A week ago, Arsenal had an exciting 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the second leg of the Premier League. In the Community Shield earlier this season, Arsenal also drew 1-1 with Chelsea but won on penalties.
Chelsea could have taken advantage of the second leg on January 24. However, the solidity of Arsenal's defense and the poor finishing ability of the home team in this match left Conte's team helpless.
Chelsea's best chances were Fabregas' close-range header and Andre Christensen's touch on the edge of the six-yard box, both of which did not pose a threat to Arsenal's goal.
Meanwhile, Arsenal showed some resilience after their shock FA Cup defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend, with a defence that had conceded four goals against the lower league side looking solid thanks to an excellent performance from centre-back duo Shkodran Mustafi and Calum Chambers.

Arsenal's biggest worry after the match against Chelsea is Jack Wilshere's injury. The English midfielder was trusted with the captain's armband for this match after a stable performance, starting 7 times in the last 9 matches for Arsenal.
Just when expectations were high, Wilshere had to face the worst nightmare that has haunted him for many years: injury. In an attempt to block a long pass from Drinkwater, Wilshere appeared to twist his ankle and limped off the field midway through the second half.
Wilshere's injury means Arsenal's injury list is growing, with the club already missing Ozil, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Sead Kolasinac, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud.
