Arsenal receives bad news after defeat in English League Cup

Both Theo Walcott and Oxlade Chamberlain will miss the next three games with injuries picked up in the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Chamberlain played just five minutes against Wednesday before being taken off. Walcott replaced him, but after just 14 minutes he also picked up an injury.

The pair are expected to miss the next three games, as Arsenal face Swansea City, Tottenham and, crucially, Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The final game is crucial for Arsenal, as defeat could see them eliminated from the group stage.

Two new injuries have left Arsenal facing a personnel crisis, as they have so many times in previous seasons. They are currently without the services of Mikel Arteta, Danny Welbeck, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and David Ospina.

"Our squad is very thin at the moment," said manager Arsene Wenger.

The Emirates Stadium team is currently ranked second in the Premier League, with 22 points like leader Man City.
