Arsenal received consecutive bad news after defeat in the English League Cup

Both Theo Walcott and Oxlade Chamberlain will miss the next three games due to injuries sustained in the defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

Chamberlain played just five minutes against Wednesday before being taken off. Walcott replaced him, but after just 14 minutes on the pitch, he also picked up an injury.

The two players are expected to miss the next three games, when Arsenal face Swansea City, Tottenham and especially the trip to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The final match is of particular importance for Arsenal, because if they lose, they face the risk of being eliminated from the group stage.

Two new injuries have left Arsenal in a personnel crisis, as they have so many times in previous seasons. They are currently without the services of Mikel Arteta, Danny Welbeck, Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and David Ospina.

"Our squad is very thin at the moment," said manager Arsene Wenger.

The Emirates Stadium team is currently ranked second in the Premier League, with 22 points like leader Man City.
