Arsenal went into the second leg at the Emirates looking to win 2-0 after losing 3-1 in the first leg. The home side achieved this goal after just 15 minutes thanks to a brilliant performance from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabonese striker started the comeback with a goal in the fifth minute. Aubameyang tapped in close to open the scoring after Aaron Ramsey's cross from the right. Aubameyang then set up Ainsley Maitland-Niles to head in a cross from just over the line.
The visitors had to score if they were to progress and they came close early in the second half, M'Baye Niang hitting the post from outside the box before defender Sead Kolasinac used his body to block Ismaila Sarr's shot from near the six-yard box.

Aubameyang secured Arsenal's victory with a goal that made it 3-0. The 29-year-old striker moved quickly to meet Kolasniac's cross and easily tapped the ball into the empty net. After scoring, Aubameyang celebrated by wearing a Black Panther mask. This was an act of gratitude to his homeland Gabon, whose national team is nicknamed the Black Panthers.
A resounding 3-0 win saw Arsenal progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, winning 4-3 on aggregate. This is the second consecutive season Arsenal have reached the last eight of the competition. Last season, Arsenal were eliminated in the semi-finals after losing 2-1 to Atletico.
Aubameyang had a great evening, with a hard-working and energetic performance. The Gabon international chased the ball everywhere, which showed in his second goal when he used his speed to cross from the touchline for Maitland-Niles to head in. A better finish would have seen him score a hat-trick, but having a hand in all three goals made him as worthy of the term 'superhero' as the Black Panther he was dressed as.

Arsenal are still chasing the Europa League title under three-time winner Unai Emery. After a forgettable first leg, Arsenal have been boosted by their Premier League win over Man Utd. However, the home side still had a few moments of slackness that allowed Rennes to almost turn things around in the second half. This is something Arsenal must improve on if they are to avoid paying the price against more sophisticated opponents.
In the quarter-finals, Arsenal could face city rivals Chelsea, alongside Napoli, Valencia, Benfica, Eintracht Frankfurt, Slavia Prague and Villarreal.
