Asian Cup 2019: Japan coach takes responsibility after losing to Qatar
(Baonghean.vn) - Coach Moriyasu Hajime of the Japanese national team admitted that Qatar completely deserved the championship after witnessing his team lose 1-3 in the final of the 2019 Asian Cup.
"The goal of the Japanese team is clearly to bring the title back to the fans. I feel disappointed that we could not win for the Japanese people. This is my responsibility when the players did not show their strength on the field," the 50-year-old strategist shared after the match.

"Japan could not get into the rhythm of the game and come up with suitable plans right from the start. However, I always believe that the winning team is the strongest. Therefore, Qatar is the better representative. I think their coach is building a good team for the 2022 World Cup," he added.
"Our goal when we came here was to become champions. So, obviously, I feel disappointed. However, I am proud of the way the Japanese team has improved. My team is a mix of both young and experienced players," said coach Moriyasu.
"I want to thank the players at a higher level for helping the juniors. Now I want the young players to keep the fire of desire and constantly improve themselves. Japan played seven matches with different styles. This tournament will be the basis for us to build a better team in the future and I am proud of what we have achieved here," he affirmed.

Speaking at a post-match press conference, Qatar coach Felix Sanchez said: "Today, we made history for Qatar. So we must be proud of our achievement. This is a big step to continue to help the team develop and play in a new tournament in the summer as well as be ready for the 2022 World Cup."
Coach Felix Sanchez highly appreciated his opponents in the final match. He said his players played well in the first 30 minutes. However, the Japanese team changed their strategy and forced Qatar to retreat to defense.
"They forced us to do that. But the whole team played very solidly and only conceded one goal. That's enough to show how strong these players are. They know how to control the game even without the ball. It was good that we could score the third goal and it was well deserved. The performance of the players was great," the 43-year-old strategist added./.
