Currently, coach Diego Simeone's contract runs until June 30, 2017. The Argentinian strategist is being closely pursued by major European clubs such as Manchester City and PSG.
Therefore, Atletico Madrid's management had to plan to retain this talented coach. According to Marca, Atletico wants to extend Diego Simeone's contract until 2020, with a salary of £4.5 million per season.
This salary is double what the 44-year-old coach is currently receiving, and it places the Argentinian strategist among the highest-paid managers in the world.
Currently, there are only five coaches in the world who earn more than Diego Simeone: Pep Guardiola (£8.8 million), Jose Mourinho (£7.4 million), Arsene Wenger (£6 million), Carlo Ancelotti (£5.5 million), and Manuel Pellegrini (£4.8 million).
Although coach Diego Simeone is being pursued by many clubs, the 44-year-old coach is deeply committed to Atletico. According to the Spanish press, the chances of Atletico Madrid successfully securing coach Diego Simeone's services are very high.
