Atletico reach Europa League quarter-finals with 8-1 aggregate win
After winning 3-0 in the first leg at home, Atletico continued to crush Lokomotiv Moscow in the second leg with a score of 5-1.

Despite the cold weather in Moscow, Atletico played brilliantly in the second leg. The visitors opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Angel Correa fired a low cross-angle shot past goalkeeper Kochenkov.
Compared to the first leg, Lokomotiv played better. The home team created many attacking situations towards goalkeeper Wemer's goal, and also scored an equalizer 1-1 in the 20th minute thanks to a long-range shot from Rybus.

After a draw in the first half, Atletico came back strongly after the break. Lokomotiv soon fell into disarray and suffered another big defeat.
After Saul Niguez's cross-angle shot made it 2-1 in the 47th minute, veteran Fernando Torres doubled his tally with a penalty and a one-on-one finish. Entering the field midway through the second half, Antoine Griezmann also made a big contribution when he won a penalty for Torres and lobbed the ball himself to seal a 5-1 victory.
With a final result of 8-1, Atletico is the team that entered the Europa League quarter-finals in the most convincing way. Coach Diego Simeone's team also proved their status as a championship candidate alongside Arsenal and Marseille.
Along with the Champions League, the European Football Federation will hold the Europa League quarter-final draw at a ceremony taking place on the evening of March 16.
