Audi is about to launch the Q1 mini SUV.

Volkswagen Group has just announced its future development plans, which include a focus on expanding the SUV product line across its four subsidiary brands.

Although not directly confirmed, Volkswagen stated that this expansion would cover the A/A0 segments. The A platform is used for compact models like the Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf, while the A0 is the chassis for supermini models like the Audi A1.

Thus, mini-crossovers with the Audi A1 chassis will be Volkswagen's next target. This information is further confirmed by the fact that Audi filed a trademark application for the name Q1 in April, which was approved on October 23rd.

The Audi Q1 could be launched as early as 2016. Following the Q1, other Volkswagen subsidiaries may also have similar models such as the Skoda Polar, VW Taigun, and Seat Ibiza SUV.
