Australia follows the US in moving its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem
(Baonghean.vn) - Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison confirmed on October 16 that he will move the Australian embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, but affirmed that Australia still maintains its commitment to supporting a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine.
Mr Morrison also announced that he would conduct research in support of the Iran nuclear deal and said that next week Australia would vote against the Palestinian Authority becoming chair of a UN working group.

Mr Morrison’s statements have been met with opposition from the Australian federal government, with many politicians accusing Mr Morrison of showing a “dead end” in his foreign policy.
Australian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Penny Wong even said the Prime Minister was playing a “dangerous and deceitful” game.
Meanwhile, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that moving Australia's embassy in Israel to Jerusalem would not help the peace negotiation process in the region.
Ms Arden said choosing to follow the US lead would not bring countries closer to a peaceful solution. New Zealand supports a two-state solution for Palestine and Israel and there will be no change in representation in the region./.
