Australia negotiates uranium sale to India
India and Australia will hold a second round of negotiations on Australia's sale of uranium to India in late July, aiming to reach a civil nuclear agreement.
Speaking to reporters on July 13, Australian High Commissioner to India Peter Suckling said the first round of negotiations, which took place last March, had made progress towards a nuclear cooperation agreement.

According to him, this agreement will ensure that uranium is only used for peaceful purposes with safety regulations under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
In another development, Indian Minister for Human Resource Development Pallam Raju and Australian Minister for Higher Education Kim Carr held the annual India-Australia Ministerial Dialogue on Education Cooperation in Sydney on July 12.
On this occasion, Australia announced the provision of 10 million USD, drawn from the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF), for research cooperation projects between the two countries./.
