Three tourists died in Da Nang due to poisoning leading to cardiac arrest.
Based on test results, forensic authorities stated that the three people who died in Da Nang were poisoned with a substance that affected cells and the cardiovascular system.
On December 4th, Mr. Mai Xuan Ngoc, Director of the Da Nang Forensic Center, announced that he had received the test results related to the three people who died in September from the National Forensic Institute.
Accordingly, the expert council of the Forensic Institute consulted and leaned towards the conclusion that the victims were poisoned with a substance affecting cells and the cardiovascular system, leading to respiratory failure, cardiovascular collapse, and death.

According to Mr. Ngoc, initial scientific tests and consultations are still insufficient to draw a final conclusion, as the specific poison and the route of entry that led to the victims' deaths have not yet been identified.
"This is the first time in 20 years in the industry that I've encountered cases of victims dying from poisoning in this manner," Mr. Ngoc said, noting that this could be the first death in Vietnam after more than two months without a clear cause of death.
Mr. Ngoc affirmed that the sampling for testing was carried out early. Many samples, such as urine, gastric fluid, blood, and vomit, were collected while the victims were still alive.
In addition, several supplementary samples were taken from the hotel for examination, including water, air, shampoo, kettle, candy wrappers, etc.
"The Forensic Institute also worked impartially, but it was too difficult to reach a conclusion," he said, adding that in the coming time, authorities will conduct three more examinations to reach a conclusion, including animal testing, the hotel's air conditioning system, and a health check of the surviving victims.
At 8:00 AM on September 16th, Hoan My Da Nang Hospital admitted three people to the emergency room. The four-year-old boy was pronounced dead. The 27-year-old mother showed signs of fatigue, dizziness, cyanosis, and low blood pressure... Resuscitation efforts were ineffective due to her poor health, and she subsequently died.
The victim's husband, Do Ngoc Van (29 years old, from Nghe An province), initially showed mild symptoms, but his condition deteriorated rapidly, indicating acute poisoning. Hoan My Hospital immediately transferred the patient to Da Nang General Hospital for treatment.
On September 24th, Mr. Van was discharged from the hospital. He recounted that when he checked into the hotel on Ho Nghinh Street, many rooms were sealed with notices about insect spraying. Besides Mr. Do Ngoc Van's wife and children, there was also a family from Hanoi and two people from Da Nang who were victims. A three-year-old boy died in the incident.
Da Nang police also collected numerous samples and sent them to the Institute of Criminal Science in Hanoi for analysis. Before the victims arrived and the incident occurred, the hotel had hired a company to spray insecticide in the rooms. Samples of the insecticide have also been sent by the police for testing. The agency stated that they will hold a press conference to announce the specific cause once it is determined.

A 3-year-old child staying at the same hotel as the Nghe An tourist family, where a mother and child died and the husband is in critical condition suspected of food poisoning, also experienced vomiting and fatigue before dying while receiving emergency treatment at the hospital.
