Three North Korean defectors share their thoughts on America

(Baonghean.vn)- Three North Korean defectors shared their thoughts about the US before and after leaving the isolated country of North Korea.

“For North Korea, the US is an implacable enemy that cannot coexist and should be eliminated from this planet,” one person said.

This person said that from the first lessons of life, children are taught to hate America. Children are taught that their country has two main enemies: Japan, because of the Japanese empire's invasion of Korea from 1910 to 1945, and the United States, which fought in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953.

Another defector said he was taught to believe that the US was “a country that was always plotting to invade North Korea”. North Koreans have a persistent fear of US invasion “because of the Korean War”. He said: “When Kim Il Sung invaded South Korea, he tried to unify the two Koreas by force, until the US-led UN troops came to rescue the South Koreans.

In other words, it is all America’s fault that the two Koreas could not be reunited. That is why Pyongyang views Washington as its sworn enemy. Since then, America has colonized Korea, and we have to help Korea, which is suffering from terrible famine, because we are of the same blood. That is what we have been taught.”

When famous Americans visit North Korea, locals say, “Our respected leader is so great that even Americans come to pay their respects.” This defector believes that current North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s outdated hairstyle is to look exactly like his grandfather.

When it comes to leader Kim Jong-un’s rapid weight gain, the way he appears in public or even the way he claps, the defector said “it’s all very calculated. Nothing is natural.”

Another surprising thing about North Koreans is that watching South Korean movies or TV shows will result in much more severe punishment than watching foreign programs./.
