Earlier, it was reported that the EU, in coordination with the G7, was discussing setting a price ceiling for Russian oil at $65-70 per barrel. Meanwhile, Poland and the Baltic states considered such a proposal too generous. The application of an oil price limit would require the consent of all EU member states. According to Bloomberg, negotiations in the European Union on setting a price ceiling for Russian oil have reached a deadlock.

“Most countries agreed to the price, except Poland, which wanted a much lower limit of $30 a barrel,” Politico wrote, citing four diplomats.

Russian response

Commenting on the West's idea of limiting prices for Russian energy resources, Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stated that Russia will not supply anything abroad if this is contrary to Russia's interests.

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak also pointed out that the Russian Federation will not supply oil to countries that set price ceilings, not at $60 per barrel or at any other price: Russia will only work with consumers who are ready to work on market conditions.
