Mr. Jaroslaw Kaczynski, former Prime Minister of Poland, in a recent statement emphasized that any attempt to punish Britain for its "breakup" with the EU will only accelerate the process of the bloc's disintegration.
Former Prime Minister and influential chairman of Poland's Law and Justice (PiS) party, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, said he also wanted to send a strong message to close neighbor Germany that the rest of Europe "cannot allow" Chancellor Angela Merkel to sink the EU by refusing to negotiate with Britain.
Mr. Kaczynski's comments once again expose Europe's "internal problems," following the historic referendum in Britain.
Poland is a typical Eurosceptic country. The government of this country was really confused after the British voters officially voted to leave the EU. That means Poland lost its biggest ally, Britain, in the "reform war" that the other side is the whole of Europe.
Mr Kaczynski even said Britain should hold a second referendum on membership, and reiterated his hope that other EU leaders would give Britain “a chance to come back”.
He also criticized German Chancellor Merkel, when she only consulted with the leaders of the EU's founding countries in dealing with the "post-Brexit" situation.
Earlier, after a meeting of leaders of Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, all agreed to have strict conditions for Britain on freedom of movement as well as access to the bloc's single market.
However, on July 3, Mr. Kaczynski emphasized: "It is the proposals of the big countries that are the cause of the disintegration of the European Union," and that: "We cannot sit idly by and let those in power in the EU act like that. We will not allow the Union to collapse."
“The fact that Britain is being treated so harshly now only shows an over-aggressive attitude of the EU!”, he said.
He also urged countries to open a window of opportunity for Britain, as well as ease the UK-EU relationship in the future.
Mr. Kaczynski's statement came in the context of the EU still being confused and conflicted in how to handle "post-Brexit".
