Andrzej Gaik, one of the treasure hunters, said the search began on the morning of August 12. The hunting team set up a fence and began clearing the ground to dig underground.

Gaik believes that if the ship is real, their team will find it. And if they find a tunnel, it will be a first step in the search because the ship could be hidden in the tunnel.

In August 2015, Polish Piotr Koper and German Andreas Richter published evidence of the existence of an area suspected to be the ship's hiding place.

By December 2015, experts at the Mining Academy in Krakow had ruled out the existence of the Nazi gold train. But they did not rule out the possibility of a tunnel, which is why treasure hunters decided to continue their search.

According to the plan, the hunters will dig three tunnels about 100 meters long and 6 meters deep. There are about 60 people working in the area where the tunnels are suspected. In addition to their own money, the treasure hunters also receive investment from sponsors.

For many years, stories about two special Nazi trains containing gold and works of art, which disappeared in the spring of 1945 in the Walbrzych area, have excited many treasure hunters to search for them.

These men searched for important Nazi underground structures, including around the huge Ksiaz castle near Walbrzych - once the headquarters of Adolf Hitler.
