The popular crossover model CX-5 has always attracted the attention of many customers. The second generation CX-5 has been launched in 3 different countries in the region: Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. Notably, the version assembled in Malaysia has the lowest selling price among the 3 countries mentioned above, with a starting price of only 760 million VND. This is also quite good news for those who love this car model in Vietnam because it is likely that the new generation CX-5 in the Vietnamese market will also be assembled domestically, similar to Malaysia.

Currently in the Vietnamese market, Mazda CX-5 is still leading the CUV segment with 5,169 cars sold in the first 8 months of 2017. CX-5 in the domestic market is currently priced from 799 million VND and is expected to be officially introduced in the Vietnamese market in November 2017.

The name Honda CR-V has recently been in the news after a unique sales promotion. Many people believe that this is a measure by HVN to clear inventory to make way for the new generation CR-V model. According to information, the Honda CR-V in Vietnam is similar to the CR-V version introduced in Thailand. The all-new CR-V will have a turbocharged engine version along with a 7-seat version. The retail price of the new CR-V is also expected to range from 990 million VND to 1.1 billion VND.

The retail price of Honda CR-V in the Vietnamese market has also been stabilized at 870-980 million VND. Honda CR-V is currently behind CX-5 in terms of sales in the CUV segment with 2,055 cars sold in the first 8 months of 2017. The new generation Honda CR-V will likely be officially introduced at the end of October 2017 and will have an official selling price in early 2018. This model will likely be switched to being imported completely from Thailand similar to Civic since 2018.

Toyota Fortuner diesel automatic transmission

Toyota Fortuner diesel engine, automatic transmission version is expected to be sold in Vietnam from January 2018. This model will be imported from Indonesia. This is understandable because the Fortuner diesel engine version is currently the best-selling version of this SUV in the Vietnamese market. Of the more than 10,280 Fortuner cars sold in the first 8 months of 2017, 5,523 cars are diesel engine versions, accounting for more than 50% of Fortuner cars sold. However, the Fortuner diesel engine version in the Vietnamese market only has a manual transmission (MT) version.

In order to diversify customers as well as continue to maintain the No. 1 position in the segment, Toyota Vietnam will likely bring the Fortuner diesel automatic to the Vietnamese market at the end of this year. The Fortuner diesel automatic will use a 2.4-liter diesel engine, one-wheel drive and come with a 6-speed automatic transmission. In addition, many interior details covered in felt like the current diesel manual version will be covered in leather.

Toyota Vietnam is likely to introduce Fortuner at the end of November 2017 and customers will receive the car in January 2018. At the beginning of 2018, the retail price of this SUV model will likely be reduced slightly because the import tax on cars from Indonesia to Vietnam will return to 0%.
