Single mother in the US takes college graduation photos with 5 children
From dropping out of high school and getting pregnant early, Ieshia Champs rose to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer as a mother of five.
Ieshia Champs always wanted to be a lawyer since she was 7 years old. However, when she entered her teenage years, many things happened that made her dream seem so far away that it seemed like she could never reach it.
"I had no direction at the time. My mother was an addict. My father died. I became homeless. I lived with friends or whoever would take me in. Then I got pregnant with the first of five children,"Ieshiashare onCBS NewsApril 11
Before finishing high school, Ieshia had to drop out.and took a job at a call center to support her growing family. In 2009, when she was pregnant with her fourth child, she suffered a major setback. Her house burned down in a fire.Ieshia lost her job. She lost the father of her children to cancer.
In desperation,Ieshia attempted suicide. Shortly after, a fateful phone call from her pastor saved her soul.
"Pastor Louise Holman said God told her to tell me to go back to school and get my GED, because I wanted to be a lawyer and that was going to happen. I thought it was crazy because I was old, raising three kids and pregnant with my fourth,"Ieshia recalled.

"I took a picture with the kids because they helped me get through my courses. It's also their graduation day!",Ieshia joked.
According toIeshia, the children helped her review lessons with flashcards while she cooked. They sat up straight to listen to their mother explain what they had learned that day. Her eldest son, David, helped her take care of his younger siblings, including feeding them, bathing them, and getting them dressed for school.
One of the photos that went viral on social media captured the scene.Ieshia stomped on a pile of books with one high-heeled foot in front of five children. She held a blackboard in her hand that read, “I did it!” The children held other blackboards with messages like, “We did it!”, “I helped!”, “Me too!”, etc.
