A representative of the Investigation Agency, Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, informed that the initial identification of the suspect in the case is Ms. Pham Thi Xuan, 65 years old, residing in Thai Binh, the child's grandmother.
Based on the traces and results of the crime scene investigation, as well as the contradictions in Mrs. Xuan's testimony about two strangers kidnapping her grandchild, the provincial police determined that the kidnapping was fabricated by the child's grandmother.
Ms. Xuan changed her testimony from the kidnapping to the story of her dropping her grandchild, causing his death.
