Powell withdraws from race for US Ambassador to the United Nations

Former White House adviser Dina Powell has withdrawn from the race to become the US Ambassador to the United Nations to replace Nikki Haley, who unexpectedly announced her resignation on October 9.

According to a senior White House official revealed to Reuters, Ms. Dina Powell has decided to continue to hold the position of executive director of multinational investment bank Goldman Sachs instead of joining President Donald Trump's team.
US President Donald Trump has been keen on Dina for the position. “Dina is definitely someone I would consider,” President Trump said when suggesting Dina to replace Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Ms. Dina Powell served as Deputy National Security Advisor to President Trump. The positions that Ms. Dina Powell held in the US government earned the respect of many people, in which she was also a senior advisor on economic initiatives to President Trump.
After announcing her surprise resignation, US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley will continue to hold the position until the end of the year. President Trump also revealed that four people are being considered to replace Ms. Haley. Besides candidate Dina Powell, US Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell is also a potential candidate for this position./.
