Three Department of Transport inspectors were prosecuted for failing to place a sign when stopping a truck on a bridge, causing an accident that killed one person.

According to the investigation, on the evening of September 30, 2020, three traffic inspectors discovered a truck traveling on National Highway 1A in the direction of Phan Rang to Nha Trang with signs of overloading. The team asked the driver to stop the vehicle on Thanh Hai Bridge (Thanh Hai Commune) for inspection.
At this time, a 21-year-old man from Bac Phong commune (Thuan Bac district) was riding a motorbike across the bridge and crashed into the back of a truck that was stopped in the same direction, causing his death.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Thuan Hai, Chief of Phan Rang - Thap Cham City Police, said that through investigation, it was determined that the accident occurred due to the traffic inspectors' fault for not placing a sign when stopping the truck on the bridge.
