Three Spice Girls members reunite, form new trio
Melanie B, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton reunited to celebrate the 20th birthday of “Wannabe” – the Spice Girls’ first hit – and announced their comeback as GEM.
Recently, Mel B, Geri and Emma – three members of the Spice Girls – shared on the group's official website about their plan to reunite on the occasion of the 20th birthday of Wannabe, the first song that brought fame to the British girl group 20 years ago.

In the video, Mel B shares: “It just occurred to us that we have the best fans in the world.” Geri continues: “You’ve been with us for 20 years and we want to say a huge thank you.” Emma concludes: “We’ve had our ups and downs, but you’ve always been there for us.” The trio concludes the video by declaring: “We want to celebrate and when we throw a party, you’re all invited.”

The trio also shared photos on Instagram with their new name, GEM – a combination of the first letters of the three members. The trio plans to perform again in 2017, with their first show to be held in Hyde Park, England.
Despite not reuniting with the rest of the group, Mel C and Victoria Beckham also sent their best wishes to the GEM trio on the 20th anniversary of Wannabe becoming a “Hit”. Mel C posted a picture of the Spice Girls in their early days with the message: “Happy 20th birthday” and the hashtag “Wannabe”. Victoria also expressed her pride in Wannabe as the song became a feminist message that has been passed down through generations.

The Spice Girls were formed in 1994, consisting of five members: Mel C, Mel B, Emma, Geri and Victoria. Their debut single - Wannabe - released in 1996 created a fever and became the champion of music charts in 30 countries and territories.
The British girls' bold, free-spirited style made the Spice Girls a global feminist icon in the 1990s. In 1998, Geri Halliwell left the group and the Spice Girls continued as a four-piece. By the end of 2000, the group disbanded and the members pursued solo careers. Of the current five Spice Girls, Victoria Beckham is the most famous, but as a fashion designer.
Besides Wannabe, Spice Girls also have many hits that have been loved for the past 20 years such as Say You Will Be There, 2 Become 1, Too Much, Viva Forever, Mama, Goodbye, Spice Up Your Life.
