Ms. Truong Thi Mai ceased to be a member of the Politburo and Central Committee of the 13th term.

Pursuant to current regulations of the Party and State and considering the individual's wishes, the Party Central Committee agreed to let Ms. Truong Thi Mai cease to hold the position of Politburo member and member of the 13th Party Central Committee.

On May 16, 2024, the 9th conference of the 13th Party Central Committee opened. At the conference, the Central Committee gave opinions on personnel work and reviewed and disciplined officials.

In particular, the Central Committee considered removing Ms. Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, member of the 13th Party Central Committee, from her positions and work.

The Central Committee concluded that Ms. Truong Thi Mai is a senior leader of the Party and State, who received basic training and grew up from the grassroots; and was assigned to hold many important leadership positions of the Party and State. Throughout her work and leadership positions, she always upheld her sense of responsibility, fulfilled her assigned tasks well, and made many important contributions to the leadership, direction, and administration of the Party and the activities of the National Assembly.

However, according to the report of the Central Inspection Committee, during her tenure as a member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission, Ms. Mai had a number of violations and shortcomings in implementing the Regulations on what Party members are not allowed to do, the Regulations on exemplary responsibilities of cadres and Party members, first of all, Politburo members, Secretariat members, and Central Executive Committee members; affecting the prestige of the Party and the individual. Fully aware of her responsibility to the Party and the People, she submitted a request to resign from her assigned positions and retire from work.

Ms. Truong Thi Mai was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Standing Member of the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat from March 2023 and Head of the Central Organizing Committee from April 2021.

She was a member of the Politburo of the 12th and 13th terms; Secretary of the Party Central Committee of the 12th and 13th terms; Member of the Party Central Committee of the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th terms; National Assembly delegate of the 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th terms.

During her career, Ms. Truong Thi Mai held many positions such as President of the Vietnam Youth Union; Vice Chairman of the Committee on Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children (now the Committee on Culture and Education); Chairman of the Committee on Social Affairs (now the Committee on Social Affairs)...
