To regain Crimea, Ukraine needs to strengthen its army, as well as conduct negotiations in the Budapest format, said the deputy of the Rada, head of the Fatherland party, Yulia Tymoshenko. The press service of the Fatherland party quoted her.

Ms. Yulia Tymoshenko.

Ms. Tymoshenko expressed her view that Crimea and Donbass "must be returned to Ukraine", and called for not to "legitimize the shadow" of the peninsula's annexation to Russia.

"This is our territory, and no one has the right to talk to us to give away part of it. We will not allow that," the delegate said.

According to her, to bring Crimea back to Ukraine, Kiev needs to build a strong army. The politician also complained about her country not joining NATO after signing the Budapest Memorandum.

"We need peace, and we must achieve it through diplomacy based on the Budapest Memorandum, while building a strong armed force in Ukraine, capable of protecting our borders and ending the war. We will not allow the world to share the problems of Crimea and Donbas. We must not separate these problems, but must clearly present them to the guarantor countries, which have given written guarantees of their protection after depriving Ukraine of nuclear weapons," - concluded Ms. Tymoshenko.

The Budapest Memorandum, signed by the leaders of Ukraine, Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom on December 5, 1994, deprived Kiev of its right to possess nuclear weapons and opened the way for Ukraine to join the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
