According to this source, the cause of a series of explosions and a large column of fire on the night of September 1 in the Mezzeh airbase area was due to an explosion at a nearby warehouse, causing an electrical short circuit. "The Mezzeh base did not receive any missiles from the Israeli side" - SANA reported.
Earlier, a video circulated on social media showed loud explosions. Immediately, several TV channels and other media reported a missile attack that occurred in the suburbs of Damascus. Al Mayadeen TV channel, with its own sources, said that Israel was behind this attack.
Al Jazeera TV channel said that the Israeli air force missiles were fiercely responded and shot down by Syrian air defense forces.
Israel has not yet commented on these allegations. The country has also been accused of attacking this Syrian military base, although there has been no official confirmation so far.
