Hexagonal cloud hypothesis causes terror in Bermuda

The hexagonal clouds in Bermuda do not produce air bombs that threaten planes and ships traveling at sea.

Many experts believe that the hexagonal cloud above the Bermuda Triangle captured by satellite on the Science Channel's "What on Earth?" program does not help explain the mysterious disappearance of planes and ships in this sea area, according to Live Science.

This image of clouds above Bermuda was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Terra satellite.

In this photo, clouds hover in the western corner of the Bermuda Triangle, above the Bahamas. Their edges form a honeycomb-like hexagon, ranging from 32 to 89 kilometers (20 to 55 miles) wide.

Meteorologist Randy Cerveny of the University of Arizona said that hexagonal clouds produce "microbursts", fast and strong winds that can reach speeds of nearly 100 mph, creating waves more than 40 feet high, causing violent seas and endangering passing planes and ships.Bermuda Triangle.

According to the Science Channel, the same type of cloud also forms in the North Sea near England, producing "air bombs" that can threaten planes and ships. But experts say the hexagonal clouds in Bermuda are not the cause of the mysterious disappearance of ships.

Channel InterviewNBC NewsMeteorologist Kevin Corriveau believes that the hexagonal shape of the Bermuda cloud is not the cause of the microburst phenomenon as in the North Sea, because the two areas have completely different climatic characteristics.

According to Corriveau, the hexagonal cloud formation over Bermuda may be the result of the small islands heating the air, unlike the clouds that form over the North Sea.

According to NASA, hexagonal clouds are common in certain temperate climates, as part of low-pressure systems or cyclones as cold air moves over warm ocean waters. They may or may not have gaps in the middle.

The Bermuda Triangle, or "Devil's Triangle", is a 500,000 km2 area in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean bordering Bermuda, Puerto Rico and Melbourne, Florida, United States. Since 1851, at least 75 aircraft, hundreds of ships and approximately 8,127 people have disappeared in Bermuda. Experts conclude that the most common causes are mechanical failure and human error.
