Notably, the New Year's greeting letter on the occasion of the Year of the Rooster 1969 is considered a brilliant prophecy of Uncle Ho about the cause of national liberation and unification.

Welcoming the Year of the Rooster 2017, in the atmosphere of the whole country enthusiastically implementing Directive 05 of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, we have the opportunity to look back at Uncle Ho's revolutionary activities through the impressive years of the Rooster. Another impressive thing is that, in those years of the Rooster, he had extremely special articles.

The article exposes the crimes of French colonialism.

First, we must mention the year of Tan Dau 1921. At that time, our country was under French colonial rule with extremely cruel policies, our people had to live in a state of extreme oppression.

As a true Vietnamese patriot, Uncle Ho (at that time Nguyen Ai Quoc) was living abroad with the noble idea of finding a way to save the country. He clearly expressed his hatred for the colonialists and imperialists who were oppressing our people, through articles exposing their crimes in the Western press.

Specifically, the article THE CRIMES OF COLONIALISM, published in the newspaper La vie Ouvriève, issue 126, September 30, 1921, had a passage: “He (the French consul in Tonkin) violently punched three native soldiers because they had let a prisoner escape, he grabbed them by the hair and dragged them along the ground, banging their heads against the wall of the consulate… The miserable prisoners did not have enough to eat, their clothes were torn, they got up from early morning until late at night, they had shackles around their necks, big chains around their feet, one person chained to another, had to pull a roller, a huge roller that they had to roll on the thick stone road. Exhausted, they struggled to walk under the hot sun. The consul arrived, holding a big stick as usual, and with unimaginable brutality, he took turns swinging the stick and beating those miserable people for no reason, scolding them for being lazy…”

Or in the article THE MONSTERY OF THE ENLIGHTENMENT published in the newspaper Le Libertaire on September 30 - October 7, 1921, there was a passage: “On the flat land that used to be a termite field, three corpses lay there: a baby was stripped naked, a young woman had her stomach cut open, her left arm stiffly raised to the sky, her hand clenched. As for the old man’s body, how horrible, also naked, but burned, so the shape was no longer recognizable, the fat was flowing everywhere, had condensed and the skin of the belly was swollen, golden, shiny, like the skin of a roast pig. When I copied this passage, I trembled, my eyes blurred with tears, tears flowed down and mixed with the ink. I could not write anymore… Nguyen Ai Quoc”.

Article in the halo of the year of the Rooster

The year of At Dau 1945 was another shining milestone. That was the year of the Vietnamese revolution under the wise and talented leadership of the Party and Uncle Ho, the August General Uprising succeeded, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, the first worker-peasant state in Southeast Asia, marking a major event in the political life of our people, that is: the Democratic Republic of Vietnam officially appeared on the world map.

On September 2, 1945, on behalf of the Provisional Government, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. He affirmed: “… For the above reasons, we, the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, solemnly declare to the world that: Vietnam has the right to freedom and independence, and in fact has become a free and independent country. The entire Vietnamese people are determined to devote all their spirit and strength, their lives and property to maintain that freedom and independence.”

On September 10, 1945, under the pen name CHIEN THANG, Uncle Ho wrote the article THE GOVERNMENT IS THE SERVANT OF THE PEOPLE, published in the newspaper Cuu Quoc, issue 46. The article contained a passage: “… The ancients said: officials are servants of the people, we can also say: The Government is the servant of the people. The work of the Government must aim at a single goal, which is to seek freedom and happiness for everyone. Therefore, the People's Government must always put the interests of the people above all else. Whatever is beneficial to the people must be done. Whatever is harmful to the people must be avoided…” .

This article shows the leader's viewpoint on educating and training cadres. In the context of the government from the central to the grassroots level being so young, President Ho Chi Minh's advice and guidance to the government apparatus at all levels at that time was truly valuable.

This shows his viewpoint of respecting, loving and being close to the people. This clear-sighted thought has made the Vietnamese revolution know how to rely on the people and promote the invincible strength of the people to defeat the great powers that invaded our country. In the cause of innovation, our Party has, is and will continue to implement this correct viewpoint to bring our country forward steadily.

Also in the newspaper Cuu Quoc No. 65, published on October 12, 1945, under the pen name CHIEN THANG, Uncle Ho wrote an article entitled HOW TO WIN THE PEOPLE'S HEARTS? This article has a passage: “… We must accept petitions and cases for the people when they are brought to us. We must take good care of the relief work for the victims, and pay attention to eliminating illiteracy for the people. In short, all things that can improve the material and spiritual life of the people must receive special attention… to be loved by the people, to win the people's hearts, we must first love the people, put the people's interests above all else, and have a spirit of impartiality.”

Although he was busy with thousands of tasks in the early days of the country's founding, no matter what he did or under what circumstances, Uncle Ho always thought about the people and worried about them. Even when he was lying in a hospital bed, whenever he regained consciousness, he always asked about the situation of the people in all regions of the country.

Take care of the country, remember the people

The year of Dinh Dau 1957 was the year Uncle Ho spent a lot of time on foreign affairs activities. On behalf of the Party, the Government and the people of the whole country, he visited many fraternal countries in the Socialist bloc and close neighboring countries to express his gratitude for their sincere help in the struggle for national liberation and independence.

At the same time, it is also an opportunity to continue to call for valuable support from countries in the Socialist system, in the context that the North is focusing on overcoming the consequences of war, restoring production, and is ready to provide human and material support to the South to continue the struggle against foreign invaders, eliminate the puppet government, and unify the country.

On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 1969, in the NEW YEAR GREETINGS LETTER published in Nhan Dan newspaper No. 5376, dated January 1, 1969, Uncle Ho clearly expressed his love for his compatriots and soldiers across the country every time Spring and Tet came. Besides, Uncle Ho did not forget the affection of other countries towards the Vietnamese people. His letter included a paragraph: “On the occasion of the New Year 1969, on behalf of the people of our country, I warmly congratulate and thank the brotherly Socialist countries, friendly countries and peace-loving and justice-loving people in the world, including the progressive people of America, who have wholeheartedly supported and helped the Vietnamese people's cause of fighting against America and saving the country…”. This congratulatory letter of Uncle Ho is like an accurate prophecy, with the following 6 six-eight verses:

"Last year was a glorious victory,

This year the frontline will surely win big.

For independence, for freedom,

Fight to make the Americans leave, fight to make the puppets fall.

Forward! Soldiers, compatriots,

North and South reunite, what spring is happier!”

Indeed, just 5 years later, on January 27, 1973, American soldiers had to return home according to the Paris Agreement; more than 2 years later, the Saigon puppet regime collapsed on April 30, 1975, the South was liberated, the country was unified, and the North and South reunited as one family as Uncle Ho had cleverly predicted.

Also in the year of Ky Dau 1969, Uncle Ho passed away, leaving behind the infinite sorrow of compatriots and soldiers across the country, and of friends from all over the world. Uncle Ho passed away but left us a shining moral example and articles filled with humanistic content, erudite reasoning… that each of us must strive to learn and follow throughout our lives.
