Traditional folk remedies for treating ear infections in children.

In children, ear infections are often accompanied by prolonged diarrhea, low-grade fever, cough, swollen lymph nodes in the neck, etc.

Mild cases involve a yellowish, watery, and slightly foul-smelling discharge from the ear; severe cases involve a thick, greenish, and very foul-smelling discharge. Many people have successfully treated this condition using the following two folk remedies.

Lá diếp cá - Internet
Houttuynia cordata leaves - Internet

- Using small drops of carp bile in the ear canal: Wrap a clean cotton ball around the tip of a toothpick to clean out the pus in the ear. Have the child lie with their cheek pressed against an adult's knee. Place the carp bile near the affected ear canal and use the toothpick to gently squeeze out the bile (about 2-3 drops). If both ears are infected, clean and apply the bile to both. Repeat every other day for 2-3 consecutive times until the infection clears.

- Take some Houttuynia cordata leaves (or coriander leaves), chives, and Leonurus japonicus leaves, wash them thoroughly, dry them, crush them, and squeeze out the juice. Put about 3 drops into the ear (make sure to clean out any pus before putting it in). Clean and put in the ear once a day. Continue this for 3-5 days, and the ear will dry up and the condition will not recur.
