A simple remedy for stomach pain using guava leaves.
Besides treating newly developed dysentery, traditional Chinese medicine practitioners also use the three-colored plum tree to treat stomach pain, pinworms, and roundworms.
According to Master's degree holder Nguyen Hong Thach (Hanoi Traditional Medicine Association), the three-colored plum tree (also known as hairy plum, plum leaf, plum leaf, dog's vine, five-fragrance vine, etc.) grows wild everywhere and is cultivated for use as a vegetable and medicine.
This wild-growing plant has a bitter taste and a cooling nature, with effects such as clearing heat, disinfecting, dispelling wind and promoting blood circulation, relieving pain, detoxifying, aiding digestion and eliminating stagnation, reducing swelling, and eliminating excess fluid.
Traditionally, the three-colored plum tree has been used to treat bacillary dysentery, with its leaves used to treat dysentery with bloody, foul-smelling stools or fever, as well as irregular bowel movements and loose, watery diarrhea.
Accordingly, if a patient has newly developed dysentery, they can take a handful of fresh guava leaves, chop them finely, mix them with both the yolk and the white of a chicken egg, wrap it in a banana leaf, and bake it until evenly cooked, or fry it in a pan until golden brown without adding oil or fat.
Eat 2-3 times a day for several consecutive days and you will recover. If you have newly developed dysentery due to heat accumulation in the colon, take a handful of guava leaves and a handful of black alum leaves, wash both thoroughly, blanch them in boiling water, dry them, crush them, and squeeze out the juice to drink. Drink 2-3 times.

In addition, Master's student Nguyen Hong Thach also suggested using 100g of hairy fig leaves, 400g of purslane, 100g of betel nut, 100g of phoenix tail root, and 400g of small-leaved milkweed, all roasted and ground into powder, to be taken at a dose of 20g/day for 5-7 days.
For diarrhea caused by heat, with symptoms such as excessive thirst, foul-smelling stools, yellow urine, abdominal cramps accompanied by bloating, and burning sensation in the anus, you can use 16g of plum leaves and 8g of myrtle buds, boiled with 500ml of water until only 200ml remains. Divide into two doses and drink daily for 5-7 days.
For those suffering from stomach rumbling and indigestion: you can take a handful of fresh guava leaves and eat them with your meals, or crush them and squeeze out the juice to drink. Doing this for about 2-3 days will show results.
The three-colored plum is particularly effective in treating bloody diarrhea. The remedy includes: 6g of three-colored plum; 6g of purslane; 6g of pigweed; 4g of Andrographis paniculata; and 16g of young shoots of eggplant.
Put all the herbs into a pot with 3 bowls of water, simmer until only 1 bowl of liquid remains, and drink it while it's still hot. Drink twice a day, one dose per day.
In particular, the three-colored plum tree can also cure stomach pain. This is not something everyone knows. According to Master's student Nguyen Hong Thach, if someone suffers from stomach pain, they should take about 20-30g of plum leaves, wash them thoroughly, crush them, and squeeze out the juice to drink once a day.
After several days of use, it will be effective. However, while taking the medicine, patients must absolutely avoid spicy foods, stimulants, limit staying up late, and maintain regular eating, sleeping, and resting schedules.
Another rather special use of the apricot tree is to "expel" pinworms and roundworms. "Crush the leaves of the three-colored apricot tree, add a little salt, eat it raw or squeeze out the juice and drink it for three consecutive mornings on an empty stomach, and the worms will come out."
To get rid of pinworms, in addition to using a handful of 30g of plum leaves, soak them in 50ml of boiled water, squeeze out the juice and inject it into the anus, leaving it in for about 20 minutes at 7-8 PM before going to bed; the worms will crawl out.
If you are infected with roundworms, take about 50g of clean guava leaves, crush them, squeeze out the juice, add a little salt, dissolve it, and drink it. Drink it in the morning on an empty stomach; the worms will be expelled after 2-3 days.
"If you are infected with pinworms, you can also drink the juice of the guava leaves as above. In addition, take about 30g of guava leaves (both leaves and shoots), wash them thoroughly, crush them, then add them to 500ml of cooled boiled water. Use a syringe to administer it into the anus about 2-3 minutes before going to bed, and the worms will crawl out," said Master's student Nguyen Hong Thach.
