(Baonghean) - Cao Veu village (Phuc Son commune - Anh Son district - Nghe An) currently has nearly 300 households, mainly Thai ethnic people. The village is located nearly 20 km from the center of Anh Son district, and is the only ethnic minority village in Anh Son district located in the border area with Laos. Currently, Cao Veu village has been divided into 4 villages according to residential area and geography.

Following the secretary of the Phuc Son Commune Youth Union and the production team of the 12/9 Anh Son Rubber Forestry, we visited Cao Veu village on a day at the end of the year. The scenery before our eyes was of rubber hills sprouting green and growing steadily on this border hill. After more than a year of implementing the rubber planting project of Nghe An Rubber Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, up to now, the rubber trees planted at the foothills of Cao Veu village are promising good growth and development.

Many households renovate their houses and garden gates to welcome the new year.



The Cao Veu 1 Village Cultural House has just been inaugurated.

Cross the Giang River suspension bridge to enter the residential area of ​​4 Cao Veu villages. New stilt houses of the people are built next to each other, and many grocery stores and clothing stores are also springing up. Many households gather bamboo and wood materials to prepare and decorate their houses and village roads to be neat and impressive to welcome the new year.

Mr. Luong Van Phong - Cao Veu 1 village, confided: "At the end of the year, there is a lack of money, but bamboo tubes and dong leaves to wrap Tet cakes are always ready. This year, I am happy because the whole village has a spacious cultural house, the traffic is less difficult, so we can go out to celebrate Tet more." Mr. Nguyen Van Chau - Head of Cao Veu 1 village, excitedly said: “Our whole village currently has 81 households, 305 people, up to now, for village meetings or other mass activities, we have had to borrow houses of local people, the houses of the village secretary and cadres. This year, the village steering committee directly mobilized villagers to donate 750 thousand VND/worker, the rest was supported by Phuc Son commune and partly took advantage of the help of philanthropists, businesses, and cultural houses of Cao Veu 1 village to complete with a total cost of over 300 million VND, of which 2/3 of the cost was contributed by the people. This is a new construction project of important significance, demonstrating the change in the economic, cultural and spiritual life of the villagers”.

In addition, since the middle of this year, the village steering committee has mobilized over 300 working days, over 6 million VND from the people and contributions from the village to complete the leveling and excavation of over 500m of rural roads connecting the village with Border Guard Station 557. Mr. Chau added: “To create conditions for people to celebrate Tet happily, the steering committees of the villages in Cao Veu village are making a list of disadvantaged families to submit to the Party Committee and People's Committee of Phuc Son commune to have a support policy for people to celebrate Tet. The village steering committee will have gifts to encourage and visit each policy family and the elderly before Tet. This year, the stadium has been upgraded, convenient for sports activities, democratic flower picking, cultural exchanges, ball throwing and the traditional game of climbing banana trees for the villagers during Tet”.

As the unit managing, inspecting and controlling people and vehicles passing through the Cao Veu border gate, moving towards the establishment of the Cao Veu border gate connecting Vietnam with Laos, Mr. Chu Van Thi - Head of Cao Veu Control Station, said: "On the occasion of Tet, the number of people passing through is large, so our unit is currently strengthening continuous control, especially at this time, the two villages of Muong Cham and Phun Muong (Say Cham Pon district, Laos) are celebrating the Mong New Year, so they come to Vietnam to buy many goods. We are on duty 24/7 to ensure safety, create conditions for people to trade goods and celebrate Tet happily.
