Northwest Steering Committee works with Nghe An Border Guard

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 26, 2017, the working delegation of the Northwest Steering Committee led by comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh had a working session with the Provincial Border Guard Command.

Attending the meeting were Colonel Le Nhu Cuong - Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard; representatives of the Provincial Police and Military Command along with a number of provincial departments and offices.

At the meeting, Colonel Le Nhu Cuongreported on the implementation of the task of ensuring security and order on the Vietnam - Laos border of the Border Guard of Nghe An province.

Regarding border protection and combat readiness, strictly implement instructions from superiors, proactively develop, adjust, and promptly supplement the system of operational documents, direct units to patrol and protect the border, clear border markers; advise all levels to handle issues related to security and order in border areas.

The work of maintaining security and order, fighting against crimes has been actively deployed, proactively preventing, fighting, and effectively stopping plots to take advantage of ethnicity and religion to sabotage the two borders; solving the complicated situation of drugs, in 2016 and the first months of 2017, 337 cases/523 subjects were arrested and handled.

Mass mobilization work and building strong border areas are regularly given attention, promoting the role of reinforced staff; organizing activities to visit and give gifts to policy beneficiaries.

Carry out border diplomacy well in conjunction with people-to-people diplomacy, maintain good relations with neighboring countries. Effectively implement the movement of twinning between residential clusters and villages and the twinning program between border posts and border protection forces of neighboring Laos (Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang, Bolykhamxay). Organize Vietnamese language classes for officials and police of neighboring countries, sponsor 20 Lao students in the opposite area...

Based on the actual situation, the representatives of the Border Guard, Police and Provincial Military Command recommended that the Party and State continue to pay attention to investing in infrastructure, developing the economy - society associated with national defense - security, creating more jobs for people in border areas.

Strengthening the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos to coordinate effectively in solving the problem of illegal migration and fighting against all kinds of crimes. Having policies to attract talents, consolidating the grassroots political system in border areas; comprehensively strengthening the armed forces to fulfill the task of maintaining security and order and protecting border sovereignty....

The members of the working delegation discussed and questioned representatives of the Border Guard Command, the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Police about the security and order situation in the area such as the border situation, illegal migration to Laos, religious security and anti-state organizations, activities of the militia and commune police, difficulties and problems and made predictions for the coming time... These issues were answered clearly and specifically by the representatives of the Border Guard, Police and the Provincial Military Command.

On behalf of the working delegation, comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh acknowledged the contributions of the Border Guard and the armed forces of Nghe An in the cause of protecting security, order, sovereignty and border security. At the same time, she acknowledged the proposals of the Nghe An Border Guard on the requirements of socio-economic development associated with ensuring national defense and security, thereby affirming that the Provincial Border Guard Command would concretize the recommendations, connect with the Provincial Military Command and the Provincial Police to develop a detailed project, the Northwest Steering Committee will submit to the Government and ministries and branches for consideration and resolution.
