Discussing solutions to support workers returning to work at VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park

On the afternoon of February 22, under the chairmanship of Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Committee held a working session to discuss the prevention and control of Covid-19 and support workers to return to work for Luxshare ICT Nghe An Co., Ltd. and Merry & Luxshare Vietnam Co., Ltd. in VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park.

LABOR LACK

According to the report of the representative of VSIP Nghe An Company Limited, by the end of 2021, VSIP Industrial Park had more than 13,100 workers working stably in factories and enterprises.

However, since the Lunar New Year, only 7,000 workers have returned to work, and more worryingly, of these, 3,255 workers have tested positive for Covid-19 and more than 1,100 workers are F1 and are in quarantine.

Due to the large number of F0 and F1 workers who have to be quarantined, businesses are currently facing a serious labor shortage, with only 66% of workers going to work.

For example, Luxshare ICT Nghe An Co., Ltd. had 2,034 workers infected with Covid-19, on February 22, 2022, only 35.37% of workers went to work. Currently, this unit is seriously lacking in labor, the company needs about 3,000 - 4,000 workers.

Faced with the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic leading to a serious labor shortage, representatives of VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park proposed to the People's Committee of Nghe An province a number of issues related to epidemic management and prevention such as: the province should consider the fee to support F0, F1 when returning to the locality for quarantine.

The province supports industrial parks to have their own F0 collection, treatment and monitoring points; increases the opening of training courses and guidance on epidemic prevention and control plans for production units in industrial parks; strengthens communication work for businesses with a large number of employees about guiding policies in the new situation; supports businesses in recruiting workers.

COORDINATION TO REMOVE DIFFICULTIES

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa emphasized the policy of promoting investment attraction and the province's attention to investors coming to the locality.

To promptly support businesses, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Le Ngoc Hoa requested the health sector to arrange enough vaccines to vaccinate workers with the third dose and unify instructions on isolating F1 cases throughout the area in accordance with regulations of the Ministry of Health.

Research and arrange F0 treatment collection points right at VSIP Industrial Park to promptly treat and reduce the rate of F0 spreading to the community; research a plan to support Covid-19 testing for workers in the industrial park.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Management Board of the Southeast Economic Zone to coordinate with the provincial press agency to develop a scenario, focus on propaganda, raise workers' awareness in epidemic prevention and return to the workplace according to regulations.

At the same time, surveying the route, it is possible to open new bus routes through VSIP Industrial Park, creating convenience for local workers to travel to their workplace.

Regarding support for mobilizing workers to return to work, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments and branches to take drastic action and focus on removing difficulties for businesses.

It is necessary to survey the facilities, accommodation, and wages of workers to have suitable plans to attract workers to work in industrial parks.

Accordingly, VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park and Southeast Economic Zone need to coordinate surveys and regulate the common income level for workers in industrial parks.

He suggested that businesses need to proactively adapt to new conditions to maintain production and economic recovery. The most important thing now is to continue to effectively prevent the Covid-19 epidemic in factories and industrial parks, create jobs, and contribute to stabilizing the province's investment environment.
